Lately, four research papers on Advances in Atmospheric Sciences (AAS) were awarded the 2016 Esteemed Paper Prize by AAS. One of them is the work by Prof. Jianmin CHEN’s group, titled “Using hourly measurements to explore the role of secondary inorganic aerosol in PM2.5 during haze and fog in Hangzhou, China”. The first author is Roeland Cornelis Jansen who received the Ph.D. from LAP3. This work aimed to further understanding of the role of secondary inorganic aerosol species in reduced visibility episodes, through the use of high temporal resolution measurements combined with meteorological data. The contribution of secondary inorganic aerosol species to PM2.5 mass was observed to increase to ~50% during haze and fog in Hangzhou, China. So it explored the role of the secondary inorganic aerosol species during haze and fog events.
