The 2nd Sino-European School on Atmospheric Chemistry (SESAC2) has been successfully held in Shanghai from Oct 19th to 31st, 2015. SESAC2 was hosted by Shanghai Key Laboratory of Atmospheric Particle Pollution & Prevention (LAP3), ESE Fudan. The organizers of the school were Prof. Jianmin CHEN (ESE Fudan), Prof. Abdelwahid MELLOUKI (CNRS Orléans, France), Prof. Christian GEORGE (IRCELYON Lyon, France), Prof. Hartmut HERRMANN (TROPOS Leipzig, Germany) and Prof. Yujing MU (RCEES Beijing). SESAC2 was sponsored by Sino-German Scientific Center, Shanghai Municipal Education Commission, French Embassy, Seventh Framework Programme, CNRS, Région Rhône-Alpes. On the opening ceremony, Chinese Academician Guibin JIANG and USA Academician A. R. RAVISHANKARA delivered the special lectures. Deputy Director of Fudan Graduate School Hongxiang WU and Dean of ESE Fudan Xin YANG gave the opening speech.

SESAC2 had scientifically address atmospheric chemistry basics in the 21st century as well as important current questions such as the routes for organics oxidation in the atmosphere, secondary organic aerosol formation and properties, dust physical chemistry, exchanges at interfaces and the implications to the atmosphere. Around 50 lectures by leading atmospheric chemists from China, Europe and North America gave the current state of knowledge about atmospheric chemistry to the 71 students (mainly PhD students and postdocs).
