The second annual session of the LAP³ Academic Committee was successfully held in Shanghai, on Sep 13th , 2014. The session was presided over by Nangen YIN, director of the Division of Science & Technology at Fudan University (DST-Fudan). The committee was made up of 18 members including the chair, Academician Jiming HAO, the deputy chairs, Academician Guibin JIANG and Professor Jianmin CHEN. The attended VIPs included Academician Li JIN (the vice president of Fudan University), Mr. Haomin GUO (director of the division of key laboratories and infrastructure, STCSM), Mr. Zhong YANG and Mr. Xiaochuang XU (DST-Fudan) and the faculty leadership of the Department of Environmental Science & Engineering at Fudan University. Before the conference, President Yuliang YANG of Fudan University had a conversation with Academician JIANG and Professor CHEN, and he gave a great expectation to the development of LAP³.

Academician JIN made the welcome remark, followed by the opening speech by Mr. Guo. Afterwards, the LAP³ Director Professor Jianmin CHEN delivered a general review of the development of the lab. Scientific research highlights and achievements in the four research fields were presented in detail by four representatives. The academic committee approved the gradual achievement of LAP³ and also gave some suggestions on the organization work, talent construction, and development plans. The committee stressed that further effort should be made to highlight the characteristic in scientific research, to focus on both pollution and prevention, and to promote the interdisciplinary communication and corporation. The committee unanimously recognized that LAP³ has achieved the anticipated target during the 2-year construction period and is ready for the check and acceptance.
