Prof. C. Chen is the former director of the Institute of Atmospheric Environment of SAES. His research is focused on chemical reactions of complex air pollution, vehicle emission control and urban and regional atmospheric environment. His group’s achievements, including emission potential inventory and multiscale numerical simulation system for the comprehensive air pollution in Yangtze Delta, played a key role in the air quality control and haze prevention during Shanghai Expo 2010. His scientific achievements have received National Environmental Protection Science & Technology Progress Award (2nd rank), Shanghai Science & Technology Progress Awards (2nd rank and 3rd rank)five times, and Shanghai Policy Decision & Consulting Awards (2nd rank and 3rd rank) four times. In 2011, his research team was honored as Workers Pioneer by Shanghai Municipality, and he was honored as Advanced Individual of Science & Technology in Shanghai Expo. He has published about 100 papers. He is also the vice director of the union of atmospheric flagship sites in China.
